Best Grilled Cheese (Printer-Friendly Version)

Crispy buttery bread and gooey, molten cheese come together in this outstanding grilled cheese creation.

# What You'll Need:

→ Bread

01 - 2 slices sourdough bread (approximately ½ inch thick)

→ Cheese

02 - 30 g shredded mozzarella cheese
03 - 30 g shredded vintage cheddar or gruyere cheese

→ Butter

04 - 1 tablespoon salted butter, softened

# Steps to Follow:

01 - If using block cheese, grate mozzarella and your chosen flavored cheese finely with a box grater for optimal melting.
02 - Evenly spread softened salted butter on both sides of each bread slice, ensuring all edges are covered.
03 - Preheat a heavy-based skillet over medium-low heat. Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, and toast lightly for about 1 minute until slightly golden.
04 - Flip the toasted slice so the toasted side faces up. Pile the grated cheeses evenly atop this slice, then cover with the second slice, buttered side up.
05 - Press the sandwich lightly with a spatula and cook for 3 minutes over medium-low heat until the underside is a deep golden brown. Adjust heat as needed to avoid burning.
06 - Carefully flip the sandwich and cook the opposite side for another 3 minutes until golden brown and cheese is fully melted.
07 - Transfer to a cutting board, slice the sandwich diagonally, and serve immediately to enjoy the molten cheese pull.

# Additional Tips:

01 - Using freshly grated cheese improves melting and texture compared to pre-shredded varieties coated with anti-caking agents.
02 - Butter both sides of the bread to achieve a uniformly crisp and golden crust.
03 - Cooking over medium-low heat allows the cheese to melt thoroughly without burning the bread.
