# What You'll Need:

01 - 4 medium Honeycrisp or Granny Smith apples

→ Wet ingredients

02 - 1/4 cup (56.7 g) unsalted butter, melted
03 - 1 tablespoon lemon juice

→ Dry ingredients

04 - 1/2 cup (110 g) packed brown sugar
05 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
06 - 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

→ Add-ins

07 - 1/4 cup (30 g) chopped walnuts or pecans
08 - 1/4 cup (40 g) raisins or dried cranberries (optional)

09 - Ice cream or whipped cream (optional)

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Set the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C).
02 - Lightly grease a baking dish with butter or spray with cooking spray.
03 - Core each apple, keeping the bottom intact, then cut slices downward about three-quarters through each apple.
04 - Place the sliced apples upright in the greased baking dish.
05 - In a small bowl, combine melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, chopped nuts, raisins or cranberries, and lemon juice.
06 - Spoon the prepared mixture generously between the apple slices.
07 - Pour a small amount of water into the bottom of the baking dish, then cover with aluminum foil.

09 - Remove the foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until the apples are tender.
