Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add mini marshmallows and heat, stirring frequently, until marshmallows are puffed but still hold shape. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract until smooth.

Add crispy rice cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture and stir until all cereal is evenly coated.

Gently fold in mini M&M candies to incorporate them throughout the mixture.

Firmly press mixture into an 8x8 inch pan greased with butter or cooking spray, and sprinkle additional mini M&Ms over the top for decoration.
