Slow Cooker Pepper Steak (Printer-Friendly Version)

Slow-cooked beef with bell peppers and savory sauce, great served over rice or noodles.

# What You'll Need:

→ Meat

01 - 2 pounds beef sirloin, sliced into strips

→ Vegetables

02 - 3 large bell peppers, sliced thick
03 - 1 large onion, sliced
04 - 3 garlic cloves, minced

→ Liquids and Sauces

05 - ¾ cup beef broth (6 fluid ounces)
06 - ¼ cup soy sauce (2 fluid ounces)
07 - 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
08 - 2 tablespoons honey

→ Seasonings and Thickeners

09 - 3 beef bouillon cubes
10 - 1 teaspoon ground ginger
11 - ½ teaspoon black pepper
12 - ½ teaspoon salt
13 - 2 tablespoons cornstarch or all-purpose flour

# Steps to Follow:

01 - In a mixing container, combine hot beef broth, bouillon cubes, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, honey, ground ginger, black pepper, salt, and cornstarch or flour. Stir thoroughly, crushing the bouillon cubes to dissolve.
02 - Place beef strips into the slow cooker. Pour the prepared sauce over the beef. Layer bell peppers, sliced onion, and minced garlic on top.
03 - Set the slow cooker to LOW and cook for 6 hours or to HIGH and cook for 3 hours. If possible, stir halfway through the cooking process to evenly combine flavors.
04 - Once cooking is complete, stir the contents well. Transfer to a serving dish and enjoy over rice, noodles, or alongside mashed or baked potatoes.

# Additional Tips:

01 - Though the initial amount of sauce appears minimal, the beef and vegetables release sufficient liquid during cooking resulting in an ample final sauce volume.
