Set oven temperature to 356°F. Line a baking tray with non-stick parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, beat together softened butter and sugar until light and smooth.

Add flour, vanilla, baking powder, and honey or syrup to the creamed mixture. Stir until fully combined forming a soft dough.

Divide dough into three equal portions. Roll each portion into a long log and position them on the prepared baking tray with spacing to allow spreading.

Press each log gently with fingertips to approximately ½ inch thickness.

Place tray in the oven and bake for 12 to 14 minutes, or until edges achieve a golden color.

While still warm, slice each log diagonally into finger-sized strips using a sharp knife. Allow cookies to cool completely on the tray before serving.
